End of an era. [03 Apr 2007|08:02pm]

If you haven't heard, the Empress Ballroom is officially closed. Over the next few months it will turn into a new artsy business and will no longer have shows (or very very seldom have shows). Empress could no longer afford to stay open due to a lack of attendance at shows after all of our money was spent on the drop ceiling. It's unfortunate that it had to come to this but it was really impossible to stay open. Between locals not holding up their end of the contracts, a lack of interest (half due to the aforementioned), a huge drop in attendance, and the money spent on the drop ceiling, closing down was a looming fact that all of us here at the ballroom had to face eventually.

Best of luck to everyone looking for shows, bands looking to play, and thanks to those who supported the Ballroom throughout the short time it was open.

ATTN: new shows! [18 Apr 2006|01:17pm]

On Wednesday, April 19th, we've got an acoustic showcase with eight artists including Arms and Legs, Dave Melillo and Until My Heart Dies.

Doors open at 7pm
Show starts 7:05

It'll be good, everyone should come!

[22 Feb 2006|02:43am]

I've never been to Empress... but I want to go the Halifax/Paramore show tomorrow night.

Did you have to buy tickets in advance or can you get them at the door? I didnt see any information on the website about ticket sales.

[14 Feb 2006|03:33pm]

I would seriously like to thank Empress AS WELL AS whoever was in charge of booking the following shows:

Ion Dissonance, Caliban, Sworn Enemy

Nodes of Ravier

Seriously, it means a lot. I finally don't have to travel an hour+ to see bands that I love. It may have taken over a year but it looks like hardcore is back at this venue!

DAVID MELILLO(drive thru)

question: what's with all the shitty music at empress. just want to know when i might actually look foward to going to empress agian, along with everyone else.

[24 Sep 2005|03:17pm]

Hey guys:

If you are in a band, and would like to get some of your stuff on the radio, I want you to contact me.

I am a DJ for a new radio station, and I'm looking to compile a show to promote bands, so if you're interested, please email me the following:

Band's Name
Where You're Based Out Of
and a few songs or links to songs that I can download

please email to lmille05@simons-rock.edu or cheetomadness@yahoo.com

Okay, I've been informed by higher powers at the Empress about a serious problem. For example, tomorrow night there will only be three bands playing. Honestly, who wants to spend $10 to watch three bands? Don't you want a longer, better show? Who really wants to go to the Empress to have the show end at 9:30?

PLEASE respond to this post.

Empress is looking for ideas of bands to play there -- August is a slow month but they're having concerns with not knowing if it's going to pick up in September with the number of bands playing.

Please, add suggestions for bands to play -- not just local bands, but I'm talking about whatever band you would like to see play, or even come again. Please, use your imaginations.

Lauren & Empress

PS -- if any bands are interested in being booked at the Ballroom, please contact myself or tearsthrusunday

The AKA's + Lost City Angels [20 Jun 2005|06:31pm]

If your interested in seeing the Lost City Angels and The AKAs @ Empress July 5th, my band Maniacal Youth will be accompanying them. We've been around for a while but this is our first time playing Empress. We have plenty of tickets to sell so it'd be a great help if you bought them through us.
If you want tickets either email maniacalyouth_ny@yahoo.com or message us on myspace (www.mysapce.com/maniacalyouth) where you can also hear our music.
Hope to see you there!

Oh P.S. our website; www.maniacalyouth.com (if you like Tsunami Bomb, Tilt, etc you may like us)

July 9th, Merch Contest [18 Jun 2005|01:57pm]

July 9th is a merch contest. The band that sells the most tickets gets alot of free merch, and danbury's finest are one the bill. That's right, the Makeout Bandits have decided to play another show in danbury this summer and we want you all to be there! Buy tickets from us by emailing deadbunny777@sbcglobal.net, commenting on www/myspace.com/makeoutbandits or calling 203 - 240 - 2764 and leaving a message.

Last night we played in NY for a pretty empty room, and it was just as good as playing in danbury, but this isn't just any normal MOB show. It's my cake party! [everyone who was at the streetlight show last july knows what I mean] which means you all need to be there because you love me.

And even if you don't love me, you should be there anyhow :)

[11 Jun 2005|11:32pm]

Tonight's show was good.

I definitly saw two of you people who post here there. I was going to say hi but then i decided to go pour water all over myself & be a jerk. =)

ANYWAYS - Thanks for being so awesome Makeout Bandits!

++Big D & Cenzo.

I've got plenty of tickets to sell. They're $2 cheaper if you buy in advance from a band... think of all the things you could do with $2! You could get water, or a soda or even merch... so help a band out [and save some money], buy from us :)

email: deadbunny777@sbcglobal.net or call the booking line at 203 - 240 - 2764 for tickets.
